BIOGRAPHY
Yuko Keyser
Yuko originally met John, her husband, in New York City in summer 2000. Soon after that they began to play as a vocal and guitar duo in Greenwich Village. Their repertoire has been expanded since those first days as a team, but from the beginning one of their goals has been to provide the right blend of jazz, bossa nova, and Japanese and American classic pop.
It has been their pleasure to perform this musical mix at the National Gallery in Washington,D.C. and in several of Tokyo's wonderful jazz clubs as well as in New York venues such as the Museum of the City of New York.
In summer 2003, John and Yuko moved to Portland, Oregon and for almost 15 years were playing and singing in some of Portland's finest hotels and restaurants, as a duo and with great musical friends.
Now in 2017, Yuko and John live in Tokyo and are starting a new musical life.

中学の頃、近所の同級生の友達の家に行って聴いていたビートルズとカーペンターズのレコード、それが洋楽を聴き始めた最初でした。高校生の頃はクイーンが好きになりロックを聴くことが多くなりました。大学の頃は洋楽に加えて荒井由実さんや尾崎亜美さんなどのシンガーソングライターの方の音楽をたくさん聴くようになりました。会社員になって色々な音楽に触れながら長い時間が経過し、ある日会社の帰りに寄ったタワーレコードで何気なく手に取ったエラフィッツジェラルドのCDを聴いて、何かわからぬままに感動を覚え、その後鈴木睦夫ボーカルスクールの鈴木ひろこ先生にボーカルの基礎を教えていただきました。本当に短い期間しか続けられなかったけれど、歌うということを初めて経験した貴重な時間でした。OL生活の末、自分にご褒美の３ヶ月のニューヨーク旅行、ニューヨークのジャズシーンをみてみたい、エラの故郷を訪れたいと思ったのがきっかけでした。ある日マンハッタンのウェストビレッジのカフェで演奏していたギタリストの小幡エイジさんとベーシストの中村カズオさんに思いがけず”Sit In"させてもらったのが、大げさだけど私の人生を変えた瞬間でした。お二人と一緒の初めてのライブ、そしてジョンとの出会い、アメリカで過ごした17年。今色々な経験を心と体で感じながら、日本で音楽をしていきたい、たくさんの人と出会いたい思っています。
